In 1924, Citizen introduced its first branded pocket watch, marking the beginning of a century-long journey in horology. To celebrate this milestone, Citizen has released a special 100th-anniversary model: the Citizen Caliber 0200 100th Anniversary NC0210-11A. Limited to just 160 pieces globally, this watch embodies precision, craftsmanship, and elegance, equipped with Citizen’s advanced Caliber 0200 mechanical movement.
Case Design and Water Resistance
The NC0210-11A features a meticulously crafted 40mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 10.9mm. Its sleek design integrates a blend of brushed and polished surfaces, highlighted by beveled, chamfered edges that accentuate its angular form. Unlike the case, the bezel is crafted from 18k white gold, circular-brushed for a refined finish. While not intended as a diving watch, it offers a water resistance of up to 50 meters, adding a touch of durability to its design.
Intricate Silver Dial and Symbolism
The dial, designed to evoke the icy texture of an iceberg, is created through electroformed patterns and features a radiant silver tone. Dauphine-style hands sweep over applied baton hour markers, while a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock adds further detail. The Citizen eagle symbol, representing the brand’s ideals of foresight and dedication, graces the dial, winding crown, and rotor, symbolizing the enduring bond between watch and wearer.
Showcasing the Caliber 0200 Movement
Through the sapphire-crystal caseback, one can admire the Caliber 0200 automatic movement, developed in collaboration with Citizen’s Swiss subsidiary, La Joux-Perret. It incorporates Swiss decoration techniques, including perlage, anglage, and satinage, along with a 22k gold skeletonized rotor. This movement offers a 60-hour power reserve, operates at 28,800 bph, and ensures precision with a daily accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds.
Himeji Kurozan Leather Strap and Price
The watch comes with an exquisite Himeji Kurozan leather strap, created using traditional Japanese tanning and lacquering methods, giving it a lustrous, caviar-like texture. Priced at $10,095, the NC0210-11A justifies its premium with its limited edition, white gold bezel, and gold rotor.
