In 2024, Tissot has expanded its popular PRX collection with new dial colors and an exciting forged carbon version. Known for its integrated bracelet design, the PRX series now includes a strap-equipped model made from forged carbon and powered by an upgraded Powermatic 80 movement featuring a silicon hairspring. Despite using premium materials, Tissot has kept the price below $1,000, maintaining its reputation for affordability.
Forged Carbon Construction
The new PRX model (ref. T137.907.97.201.00) is slightly larger than its stainless steel counterparts, with a 40.5mm case and a thickness of 11.2mm. Its case architecture features a stainless steel inner housing surrounded by a forged carbon fiber middle case, which forms the lugs and bezel. This construction results in a robust yet lightweight feel, enhancing the watch’s wearability.
Dial and Design Features
In keeping with the PRX’s signature look, the forged carbon model features a matching dial with asymmetric striations that highlight the material’s texture. The layout remains consistent with applied luminous hour markers, a printed minute track, and a framed date window at 3 o’clock. The hands are baton-shaped with luminous strips, ensuring excellent readability.
Upgraded Powermatic 80 Movement
Powered by the Powermatic 80 movement, the new model offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve and operates at 21,600vph. The key upgrade in this version is the silicon hairspring, a feature shared with the Tissot Gentleman series, providing enhanced precision and durability.
Rubber Strap for Enhanced Comfort
Rather than an integrated bracelet, this model comes with a textured black rubber strap featuring quick-release spring bars and a black-finished tang-style buckle. The strap’s design complements the carbon fiber case, offering a sporty, comfortable fit.
Affordable Luxury
Despite its advanced materials and upgraded movement, the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Forged Carbon Edition is priced at $995, making it an accessible luxury option.
