A New Pinnacle in Chronograph Complication
First unveiled in 2018, the A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split established a new benchmark for mechanically advanced chronographs. Its groundbreaking feature is the ability to provide complete split-timing for not just seconds, but also for minutes and hours simultaneously—a significant leap beyond a traditional split-seconds or rattrapante function. The watch also incorporates a flyback mechanism and the brand’s characteristic Up/Down power reserve display. After initial releases in white gold (2018) and pink gold (2021), A. Lange & Söhne has introduced its latest 2026 masterpiece, a version of the ultra-complex chronograph housed in exquisite 950 platinum.
Exquisite Design in Platinum and Silver
Maintaining the dimensions of its predecessors, the new Triple Split (ref. 424.025F) features a case measuring 43.2mm in diameter and 15.6mm in thickness. The use of 950 platinum, however, elevates its presence and exclusivity. This model is paired with a sophisticated dark brown alligator leather strap secured by a matching platinum deployant clasp. Distinguishing itself from the gray dial of the white gold version and the blue dial of the pink gold model, the platinum edition boasts a rhodium-colored dial crafted from 925 silver. This elegant face is accented with two gray-finished registers and applied 18k gold hour markers plated with rhodium. Each of the three chronograph functions is tracked by a pair of hands—one in blue, one with a rhodium finish—allowing the wearer to freeze the blue hands with the pusher at 10 o’clock to record intermediate times for up to 12 hours.
The Heart of the Timepiece: Caliber L132.1
The remarkable capabilities of the Triple Split are driven by the in-house manufacture Caliber L132.1 movement. This manual-wind engine, essentially a double flyback chronograph, is a testament to German watchmaking prowess, comprising an astonishing 567 individual parts. The 46-jewel movement operates at a frequency of 21,600vph (3Hz) and provides a substantial 55-hour power reserve when fully wound. Its intricate beauty is on full display through the sapphire caseback, revealing plates and bridges made from untreated German silver and an ornately hand-engraved balance cock.
