Non-round watches are taking the spotlight in 2024, with Longines leading the charge. The brand’s Mini DolceVita, launched last year, now makes its debut in 18k gold, marking a bold expansion to cater to diverse watch enthusiasts.

New Gold Variants and Features
Earlier this year, Longines introduced double tour straps to the collection, and now we see four new gold models: two in yellow gold and two in rose gold. Buyers can choose between diamond-encrusted cases with matching brick-link bracelets or simpler designs featuring unset cases paired with black leather straps. These additions not only enhance the collection’s aesthetic appeal but also elevate it into a new price bracket.

A Legacy of Shaped Watches
Longines has explored shaped watches since 1910, with the DolceVita officially launching in 1997 as the brand’s signature rectangular piece. The Mini DolceVita, measuring 21.50 mm x 29.00 mm x 6.75 mm, takes a fresh approach with smoother, more feminine lines and a smaller profile. Notably, the new models feature a five-row square-link bracelet or an interchangeable leather strap with a gold-tongue buckle. The diamond-encrusted versions boast 38 Top Wesselton stones, while the gold bracelet models include 106 staggered links secured by a triple-security clasp.
A Classic Inspired by Icons
The Mini DolceVita shares design similarities with icons like the Cartier Tank and Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Its flinqué dial, Roman numerals, blued sword-shaped hands, and recessed small seconds subdial deliver timeless appeal. For those who prefer variety, the earlier “Cosmo” sector dial remains an option, though it hasn’t yet made its way to the new gold models.
Performance Meets Elegance
Powered by the L178 quartz movement, the Mini DolceVita is low-maintenance and practical. Its 30-meter water resistance and AR sapphire crystal reinforce its reliability as a jewelry-inspired timepiece.
Pricing and Appeal
With prices starting at $5,975 for leather models and $25,000 for diamond-studded versions, the gold Mini DolceVita offers an elegant option for collectors and newcomers alike. It’s a sophisticated addition to Longines’ growing repertoire of shaped watches.
