Urwerk, known for its cutting-edge and futuristic designs, continues to draw inspiration from nature, with its latest 2024 release, the UR-150 Scorpion. This limited-edition timepiece, produced in only 50 pieces per colorway, takes its inspiration from the scorpion, an arachnid famous for its venomous sting and menacing tail. The UR-150 Scorpion showcases a smooth, dome-shaped case paired with a new satellite display system, echoing the dramatic arc and swift motion of a scorpion’s tail.
Design and Case Features
The UR-150 Scorpion is a more rounded evolution of Urwerk’s UR-100 series. Its sleek design is highlighted by a domed sapphire crystal that seamlessly follows the curve of the case, giving the watch an elegant yet futuristic aesthetic. Secured with four corner screws, the watch also features a display-style caseback and a crown recessed at the 12 o’clock position, offering 50 meters of water resistance. Unique vertical grooves run along the case, with recessed sections housing a badge that marks the limited edition status.
Available in Two Colorways
Urwerk presents the UR-150 Scorpion in two variations: Titan and Dark. Both models are crafted from titanium and stainless steel with sandblasted surfaces, but the Titan model showcases a natural blasted-titanium finish, while the Dark version features an anthracite PVD coating. These finishes are carried into the satellite display system, with green accents for Titan and red for Dark.
Technical Excellence and Satellite Display
The UR-150 features Urwerk’s signature carousel-mounted satellite hour display, paired with an oversized retrograde minute hand that sweeps 240 degrees before snapping back at the top of the hour. This lightning-fast reset is achieved through a precise retrograde mechanism, controlled by a speed regulator.
Movement and Straps
Powered by the in-house Caliber UR-50.01 automatic movement, the watch operates at 28,800vph with a 43-hour power reserve. It also features dual turbines that regulate rotor speed and absorb impacts, enhancing the durability of this intricate movement. The strap, reminiscent of a scorpion’s scales, asymmetrically attaches to the case for enhanced comfort.
Pricing and Availability
Limited to 50 pieces each, the Titan model is priced at $103,000, while the Dark version comes in at $105,000 due to its premium PVD finish. With advanced mechanics and an innovative design, the UR-150 Scorpion marks an evolution of Urwerk’s signature style.
