Grand Seiko has released three new midsize 44GS watches that are exclusive to the US market. Each watch is inspired by a different season in Japan, and features a unique dial color and handset to reflect that.
- SBGW313 “Hanami” (pink dial with green seconds hand): Inspired by the cherry blossom season in spring.
- SBGW311 “Tsuyu” (smoky green dial): Inspired by the rainy season in early summer.
- SBGW309 “Juhyo” (bright blue dial): Inspired by the ice-covered trees of winter.
All three watches are powered by the Caliber 9S64 manual-wind movement, which has a 72-hour power reserve and adheres to strict timekeeping tolerances. The watches cost $5,900 USD each, which is a premium of several hundred dollars compared to the internationally available versions of the model.
My thoughts:
I think these new Grand Seiko 44GS watches are very beautiful and well-made. The season-themed dials are a nice touch, and the 36.5mm case diameter is a good size for a variety of wrist sizes. The manual-wind movement is also a nice touch, as it adds to the overall exclusivity and craftsmanship of the watches.
While the price is a bit high, I think these watches are worth the money for collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate Grand Seiko’s quality and design. I would personally be interested in the SBGW313 “Hanami” model, as I love the pink dial and green seconds hand.
Overall, I think these new Grand Seiko 44GS watches are a great addition to the brand’s lineup, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a high-quality, stylish, and well-made timepiece.
