Tapping into its 1970s heritage, Bulova has revived the Super Seville, captivating a new generation of watch enthusiasts. The 1970s were pivotal in watchmaking, marking a shift toward quartz technology for unprecedented precision. Bulova, a pioneer then, continues to lead in this field, exemplified by the Bulova Precisionist movement powering the new Super Seville models.
Retro Aesthetics at the Forefront
The new-generation Bulova Super Seville watches embrace retro aesthetics with TV-shaped cases. These rounded square cases, crafted from stainless steel and measuring 38mm, offer versatility for various wrist sizes. The coin-edged fluted bezels, reminiscent of vintage Super Seville timepieces, add visual interest and a touch of elegance. Staying true to the ’70s vibe, the contemporary Super Seville watches feature integrated tapered three-link bracelets, seamlessly blending with the case.
Diverse Variations
Bulova offers three Super Seville variations: two silver-tone stainless steel models with blue or green dials, and a gold-tone stainless steel version with a white dial. All dials feature vertical brushing, polished hands and indices, and a date window at 3 o’clock. The date windows are magnified through protruding lenses affixed to the flat sapphire crystals, enhancing readability. The hands and hour markers are coated with luminous material for optimal legibility in the dark.
High-Precision Movement
The dials also display “262 kHz” inscriptions, highlighting Bulova’s proprietary high-precision quartz Precisionist movements. The Bulova Precisionist, an 8-jewel quartz movement, vibrates at 262kHz — eight times higher than standard quartz movements — resulting in a signature sweeping seconds hand. Additionally, the HPQ Precisionist is accurate to seconds a year and offers increased resistance to temperature variations.
