Breitling marked its 140th anniversary in 2024 by introducing the B19 movement, a sophisticated evolution of its flagship B01 chronograph. Now, in 2025, the Swiss watchmaker unveils the Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 Perpetual Calendar, a standard-production model that brings this high-complication movement to a broader audience. Combining a stainless steel case, platinum bezel, and a striking ice-blue dial, this timepiece blends technical prowess with refined aesthetics.
Design & Dimensions: Precision Meets Elegance
The new Navitimer retains the 43mm diameter and 49.07mm lug-to-lug profile of its limited-edition gold predecessors but trims 0.68mm in thickness (14.94mm total). The platinum bezel adds exclusivity, while the slide-rule functionality remains intact. Despite its complexity, the watch maintains the Navitimer’s iconic silhouette, now paired with a curved sapphire crystal for enhanced readability.
Functionality: A Perpetual Calendar for the Ages
Unlike user-friendly perpetual calendars that rely solely on the crown, the B19 movement uses recessed correctors on the case’s left side to adjust its calendar and moonphase displays. Water resistance holds steady at 30 meters, aligning with the Navitimer collection’s standards. The ice-blue dial features a moonphase aperture at 12 o’clock and sub-dials with dual hands for tracking chronograph and calendar functions.
Movement Mastery: Power & Precision
The B19 movement boasts 374 components, a 4Hz frequency, and a 96-hour power reserve. Built on Breitling’s COSC-certified B01 architecture, it ensures accuracy within -4/+6 seconds daily. While the limited-edition gold models featured anniversary rotors, this version opts for a rhodium-plated rotor with Geneva stripes, emphasizing timeless craftsmanship.
Straps & Pricing: Luxury Within Reach
Available on a black leather strap ($29,000) or stainless steel bracelet ($29,500), the B19 Perpetual Calendar offers versatility. Though pricey, it’s a relative bargain compared to its $60k+ gold predecessor, making high horology more accessible.
