Tissot Stylist: A Retro Revival for 2024

Originally introduced in 1965, the Tissot Stylist collection was designed to offer trendy, affordable timepieces that could be produced on a large scale. The watches featured standardized movements and distinct case profiles. In 2024, Tissot has revived the Stylist series with two new models that stay true to the original’s essence, offering well-crafted, design-focused watches at an entry-level price point.

Tonneau-Shaped Cases and Quartz Movements

The new Tissot Stylist models feature tonneau-shaped cases made from 316L stainless steel with a brushed finish on the sides and top surfaces. High-polished bevels run vertically down either side, giving the watches a sleek look. Measuring 32mm in diameter and just 7mm thick, the cases include lugs spaced 18mm apart. A flat sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the caseback is a solid pressure-fit design. A signed crown at the 3 o’clock position operates with a simple push/pull action. Despite its minimalist design, the watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters and weighs just 34 grams.

Two Dial Options for Different Tastes

At present, the Stylist collection includes two models, each with a two-handed, time-only display. The ref. T159.909.16.043.00 features a blue gradient dial with Roman numeral markers and a blue leather strap. The second model, ref. T159.909.16.031.00, comes with a silver sunburst dial, simple baton hour markers, and a brown leather strap. Both watches have yellow gold PVD hands and no luminous material, emphasizing their stylish, everyday design.

Affordable Swiss Quality

Powered by reliable ETA quartz movements, the Stylist models use a variation of the ETA Caliber F03, known for its three-jewel design and a battery life of three to four years. With quick-release straps and a price point of just $275 USD, the Tissot Stylist collection offers a unique Swiss-made option at an accessible price, just a few dollars more than a MoonSwatch.
