Omega is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its collection by launching 11 new Seamaster Summer Blue watches for the summer of 2023. These watches are spread across seven collections within the Seamaster category, namely the Omega Aqua Terra, Worldtimer, Seamaster 300, Seamaster Diver 300M, Planet Ocean, Ploprof, and Ultra Deep.
What sets these new Omega Seamaster watches apart is their “Summer Blue” color dials, achieved through careful application or free-flowing layers of varnish, depending on the desired effect. The depth rating of each watch influences the darkness of the dial. For instance, the Ultra Deep, rated at 6,000 meters, features a splash of blue at the center of its dial, while the Aqua Terra 150M 38mm showcases a vibrant blue face.
The casebacks of all watches bear laser-engraved or relief-engraved designs featuring a trident-bearing Poseidon and two seahorses. The seahorse motif has been a symbol of the Seamaster collection since the 1950s when designer Jean-Pierre Borle found inspiration in the sculpted representations of Neptune’s seahorses on Venetian gondolas.
The Omega Aqua Terra 150M line introduces three new references: the Aqua Terra 150M 38mm 220.10.38.20.03.004, Aqua Terra 150M 220.10.41.21.03.005 (steel bracelet), and Aqua Terra 150M 220.12.41.21.03.008 (rubber strap). The 38mm edition features the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800 movement, “sailboat” indexes, and a brushed and polished bracelet with rounded links.
The 41mm versions, powered by the 8900 movement, exhibit the well-known horizontally striped dial and are available with a steel bracelet or rubber strap. Both the 38mm and 41mm versions have updated hands and indexes with a “unique light blue” Super-LumiNova to complement the new dial color. The Omega Aqua Terra 150M 41mm is priced at $6,400 (rubber strap) and $6,600 (bracelet), while the 38mm version costs $7,000.
The Omega Aqua Terra Worldtimer collection recently introduced three new versions, and it continues to expand with the Aqua Terra Worldtimer Summer Blue. This 43mm watch retains its laser-ablation dial texture and color grading, simulating the creased surface of continents, and now adds a blue ocean to match the main dial and city rings. The Aqua Terra Worldtimer Summer Blue is available with either a steel bracelet or a blue rubber strap powered by the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 8938. The watch is priced at $9,200 (rubber strap) and $9,400 (bracelet).
Paying homage to the original Seamaster from Omega’s “professional” trilogy of 1957, the Omega Seamaster 300 Summer Blue features the 8912 caliber, a 41mm-wide symmetrical case with polished and brushed elements, and a matching steel bracelet. The varnished Summer Blue dial is slightly darker to reflect its double the water resistance compared to the Aqua Terra pieces. The indices are bright blue, while the minute hand and bezel pip are green, true to the Seamaster tradition. The Omega Seamaster 300 Summer Blue watch is priced around $6,700.
