Seiko’s latest release, the Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT SPB519, offers a fresh interpretation of the brand’s revered 1968 Diver’s 300M. Instead of mimicking the original, this model takes key design cues and reimagines them into a robust, everyday-ready sports watch featuring a GMT complication.
Case Dimensions Built for Adventure
The stainless steel case measures 42mm across and 13.3mm thick—slightly bulkier than earlier models to accommodate a 300M depth rating. The integrated lugs and 48.6mm span ensure a comfortable, secure fit on most wrists.
GMT Functionality Meets Dive Watch Design
Though it includes a red arrow GMT hand and a 24-hour scale on a split-color chapter ring, the SPB519’s real identity is that of a dive watch. A unidirectional 60-minute bezel and a sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective treatment further reinforce its underwater focus.
Sophisticated Dial Aesthetics
The dial features a sharp white background with black and red highlights. LumiBrite lume ensures high legibility in all lighting conditions. The second hand’s stoplight tip and red “GMT” text add a sporty flair, while polished hands and markers lend a refined look.

The SPB519 is powered by Seiko’s 6R54 automatic GMT movement, known for its reliability and 72-hour power reserve. As a “caller” GMT, it allows quick adjustments to the 24-hour hand and date, ideal for users who monitor another time zone rather than frequently traveling between them.
Bracelet and Value Proposition
Seiko equips this model with a brushed steel bracelet and a newly improved clasp offering 15mm of micro-adjustment. At $1,700 USD, it’s positioned just above previous models but offers substantial upgrades.
