Louis Vuitton continues its evolution into a serious high-horology brand with the release of six new models in its Tambour Taiko Spin Time collection. Unveiled during LVMH Watch Week 2025, these timepieces build on the brand’s recent redesigns, including the 2023 Tambour base collection and the 2024 Escale line. The new releases solidify Louis Vuitton’s commitment to crafting luxury watches that rival the best in the industry.
The Spin Time Concept: A Fresh Take on a Classic
The Spin Time complication, first patented by La Fabrique du Temps in 2009 (acquired by Louis Vuitton in 2011), features rotating blocks that flip to indicate the hour. While the concept isn’t new, the 2025 models showcase a complete redesign, aligning with Louis Vuitton’s refined aesthetic and technical prowess. The collection is divided into two groups: the Tambour Taiko Spin Time with two variants and the Tambour Taiko Spin Time Air with four.

Design and Craftsmanship
The new models feature a more organic case design, a departure from the blocky drum shape of earlier Tambours. Crafted in 18k white gold, the cases taper elegantly from the wrist, with satin-brushed casebands and polished lugs. The bezels are sandblasted, adorned with polished Louis Vuitton lettering. The dials, described as Dolphin grey, offer a subtle blue hue, complemented by 18k gold hands and markers.
The Tambour Taiko Spin Time models measure 39.5mm wide and 12.15mm thick, with a solid dial and 100m water resistance. A gem-set variant replaces the bezel with 68 baguette diamonds and features a stunning hawk’s eye dial. Both versions come with Dolphin grey rubber straps and 18k white gold buckles.
Tambour Taiko Spin Time Air: A Transparent Marvel
The Spin Time Air models take the collection to new heights with their openworked dials, allowing the hour blocks to appear as if floating in midair. These watches are slightly larger at 42.5mm wide and 12.45mm thick, paired with beige calf leather straps. The gem-set Spin Time Air dazzles with 909 brilliant-cut pavé diamonds and a hawk’s eye dial encrusted with 118 additional diamonds.
The Air collection also introduces two standout complications: the Antipode World Time and the Flying Tourbillon. The Antipode replaces hour blocks with city blocks, color-coded to indicate AM or PM, while the Flying Tourbillon showcases a one-minute tourbillon above a mirrored plate.
Movement and Finishing
All models are powered by in-house movements, including the LFT ST13.01 for time-only watches, the LFT ST12.01 for the Antipode, and the LFT ST05.01 for the Flying Tourbillon. These calibers feature 18k pink gold rotors, a 45-hour power reserve, and meticulous finishing with polished and grained surfaces.
Pricing and Availability
With prices ranging from $72,500 to $172,000 USD, the Tambour Taiko Spin Time collection is a luxury investment. Limited to 500 pieces across all models, the gem-set and tourbillon variants are expected to be the most exclusive.
Louis Vuitton’s latest release marks a significant milestone in its journey from fashion-forward timepieces to high horology. The Tambour Taiko Spin Time collection is a testament to the brand’s craftsmanship, innovation, and dedication to excellence.
