Launched in 2020, the Breitling Endurance Pro was designed as a lightweight quartz chronograph for athletes. Its practical features cater to various sports and fitness activities, making it a versatile timepiece. In 2023, Breitling collaborated with four U.S. universities to release special University Edition models, and now, for 2024, it introduces the Stanford University Edition, honoring one of the most prestigious West Coast institutions.
Modern Design with a Rich Heritage
Inspired by the 1970s Breitling Sprint chronograph, the Endurance Pro reimagines this classic sports watch with modern features. It boasts a rotating compass bezel, a thermo-compensated SuperQuartz movement, and is crafted from Breitlight—a carbon composite material that is significantly lighter than titanium and stainless steel. Despite its modern execution, the watch adheres to the spirit of the original 1970s model, aiming to be a practical companion for athletes.
Stanford University Edition: A Tribute to Tradition
The Stanford University Edition follows the design principles of previous University Edition models. It features a 44mm Breitlight case, flat anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and a screw-on caseback engraved with Stanford’s logo. Red accents on the rubberized crown and pushers echo Stanford’s signature colors. With a water resistance of 100 meters, the watch is built to withstand rigorous athletic activities.
A Unique Dial Design
Like other University Edition models, the Stanford edition’s dial includes three chronograph registers, a date window, and a pulsations scale. Its black dial is enhanced with Stanford’s red and white colors, and the university’s name and logo are prominently displayed. The hands and indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility.
Power and Precision
Powering the watch is the Breitling Caliber 82 SuperQuartz movement, offering a battery life of 3-4 years and COSC-certified accuracy of +/-10 seconds per year. The chronograph tracks events up to 30 minutes, with a 1/10th second counter for precision timing.
At $3,700 USD, the Breitling Endurance Pro Stanford University Edition is a premium yet accessible way for alumni to represent their school with pride. As the fifth school edition, the collection may continue to expand to other universities known for athletic excellence.
