Mechanical watches often draw inspiration from nature, and Atowak’s latest creation, the Manta-X, is no exception. Inspired by the elegant movement of manta rays and the mysteries of the ocean, the Manta-X fuses avant-garde design with groundbreaking mechanics, delivering a bold, kinetic wrist sculpture.
A Trifecta of World-First Innovations
At the core of the Manta-X lies a trio of mechanical firsts. The 180° Hexa Prism 3D Wandering Hour System utilizes a six-sided rotating hour wheel that pivots 60° every hour, displaying the current hour with a swift 0.3-second flip.
Next, the Involute Gear System replaces the traditional Maltese cross with a single-tooth engagement mechanism for smoother transitions. Housed in a composite fiber mortise-and-tenon setup, it’s lightweight, shock-absorbent, and built for longevity.
Completing the trio is the Tidal Gravitas Minute Wheel System. This domino-like cascade features 13 synchronized minute disks flipping every five minutes, delivering a hypnotic, precise display.
Form Meets Function
Driving the Manta-X is a modified Swiss Sellita SW200 movement, enhanced with Atowak’s proprietary AK-07BA module. It includes 26 ruby bearings and carbon fiber shock absorbers to ensure stability and COSC-level accuracy. A sapphire caseback reveals the movement partially, while carbon arms echo the motion of a manta ray.
Sculptural Titanium Case Design
The 49.5mm x 42mm titanium case blends fluid curves with sharp industrial lines. A double-domed sapphire crystal showcases the animated display, and Super-LumiNova accents add an oceanic glow. Offered in Tidal Blue or Violet Purple, the Manta-X includes a hybrid leather-nylon strap for comfort and style.
Limited in production and priced at $3,800 USD, pre-orders for the Manta-X begin April 20, 2025, with deliveries slated for July 2025.
