Tudor Introduces the Black Bay Pro with a Crisp Opaline Dial

April 1st 2025

A Fresh Look for a Classic Timepiece

At Watches & Wonders 2025, Tudor opted for subtlety in updating its Black Bay Pro collection. Instead of an entirely new model, the Swiss watchmaker introduced a striking new opaline dial variant to complement the original black dial version launched in 2022. This fresh dial brings a brighter, more refined aesthetic to the tool watch lineup, reminiscent of Rolex’s Explorer II “Polar.”

A High-Contrast Dial for Maximum Legibility

The domed opaline dial enhances readability with applied ceramic hour markers, outlined in black and filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova. The hour and minute hands follow the same theme, ensuring strong contrast against the pale background. However, the signature yellow “Snowflake” 24-hour hand remains unchanged, maintaining Tudor’s distinct design language.

Unchanged Case, Bezel, and Movement

Beyond the new dial, the rest of the Black Bay Pro remains identical. The stainless steel case measures 39mm in diameter and 14.6mm thick, offering 200 meters of water resistance. The engraved steel bezel retains its 24-hour scale, working alongside the yellow GMT hand to display a second time zone.

Inside, the watch houses the Manufacture Caliber MT5652, a COSC-certified automatic movement with a jumping local hour hand and an instantaneous date window at 3 o’clock. It beats at 28,800 bph and delivers a robust 70-hour power reserve.

Strap and Pricing Options

The opaline Black Bay Pro is available with three strap options: a riveted steel bracelet ($4,375), a black Jacquard fabric strap, and a hybrid rubber-leather strap (both $4,050). While a dial change isn’t groundbreaking, this addition provides a compelling alternative for those seeking a brighter, high-contrast look in a trusted GMT tool watch.
