The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer x Hodinkee features a 42mm stainless steel case that embodies the brand’s sleek and sophisticated “Glassbox” design. With sharply angled lugs, pump pushers, and a domed sapphire crystal, this case exudes a retro-futuristic charm. The addition of a new rectangular pusher at 9 o’clock, dedicated to the tide indicator complication, gives the watch a distinctive personality and sets it apart from other Carrera models.
The Striking Dial: A Seafarer’s Delight
The dial of the Carrera Chronograph Seafarer x Hodinkee is where this timepiece truly shines. TAG Heuer has reimagined the classic Carrera layout, starting with an outer minutes scale on the convex edge of the chapter ring, echoing the design of the original ref. 2446C’s bezel. The chronograph minutes subdial at 3 o’clock features sky blue regatta timer-style segments, adding a playful touch to the design. At 9 o’clock, the updated tide indicator subdial, with its navy blue, sky blue, and black striped segments, provides a crisp and engaging display. The 6 o’clock running seconds subdial is also revamped, with the Seafarer name and the removal of the standard Carrera date window, resulting in a clean and punchy summer-ready look.
Performance Meets Craftsmanship
Beneath the striking dial, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer x Hodinkee is powered by the in-house TH20-13 automatic chronograph movement. This movement, while incorporating the new tide indicator complication, retains the key features of the familiar TH20, including an 80-hour power reserve, a 28,800 bph frequency, and a column wheel and vertical clutch chronograph actuation system. The movement is also beautifully finished with Côtes de Genève, a polished column wheel, and a brushed skeleton rotor shaped like the Heuer shield emblem.
